The circular economy is estimated to be worth € 4.1 trillion by 2030.
But no company can get there alone.

Because single products do not solve problems in totality.
It needs an ECOSYSTEM.
WHY JOIN AN ECOSYSTEM?
Pain Point #1: Incomplete suppliers
For end clients pursuing their sustainability journey, this fact means that there is the overwhelming task of filtering through a soup of 'providers' to find the right ones who can integrate well and solve their problems.
Without an ecosystem, the market solutions are incomplete, thus the cost in time, effort and money gets higher and suddenly it does not make sense to switch to sustainability.
This is a MAJOR PAIN faced by end clients today, especially as regulatory and financing pressure grows. Vendors and suppliers who know and do something about this have the upper hand. And this needs ECOSYSTEM level solutions.

Pain Point #2: Fighting the linear economy without leverage
Secondly, as vendors and suppliers of sustainable products, you have the challenge of fighting off linear economy competitors that you need to replace. For decades, the linear economy had been allowed to develop into this efficient machine and keeps winning against your business when it boils down to cost.
Your prospective clients question the higher price tag given that the product offerings can't solve their problems in totality. Yet, if you try to solve it all on your own, you risk killing off your business as you depart from your core competencies.
Pain Point #3: No Bargining Power
Add on the amount of effort needed to educate your prospective client or the regulators, fend off scepticism, misrepresentations and distortions of sustainability terminology in the market....

This is a MAJOR PAIN for businesses in the sustainability, climate and circular economy space to survive and thrive.
Solutions, profits, customer appeal and regulatory traction is difficult when you stand alone.
So where is your Collective Bargaining Power??

THE STRONGEST CIRCULAR ECONOMY SUPPLIER AND VENDOR ECOSYSTEM LAYER
We are building
that can deliver the solutions needed to accelerate business transition to the circular economy and solve the climate crisis.
WHAT IS AN ECOSYSTEM?
At Circular Business Association, we believe that the climate and sustainability crisis can only be solved by:
-
Changing how people fundamentally access their goods and services on a daily basis, as individuals and as businesses to live the lives they want; and
-
Changing how they earn their livelihoods
Effectively, we are changing the entire ECONOMIC SYSTEM.
And that takes more than just recyclers, raw material providers and manufacturers.

The ECOSYSTEM we envision is much more than that.
1. Ecosystem in terms of value chain roles
We can look at ecosystem interms of the tradtional supply chain roles. As shown int he diuagram, it is more than recyclers, raw material providers and manufacturers. At CBASS, we also involve those in Quality and Compliance realms; Distributors; Service Providers; the End Users and fan base itself; the Recovery and Repurposing players for not just materials but also nutrients, components, parts and full products; Talents across all business functions, be it HR, accountants, lawyers etc; Product Designers, Industrial designers, Investors; Logistics and Delivery; Technology Providers; and Regulators

2. Ecosystem in terms of functional roles
We can also look at an ecosystem from a functional perspective. At CBASS, we categorise suppliers, vendors and talents into Five Functional Realms based on how they help others solve problems as follows:
-
Do It realm: These are providers who have the actual solutions, be it physical products or services, that can be implemented to achieve the desired sustainability outcomes.
-
Figure It realm: These are the consultants, strategists who help others figure out what needs to be done and how to get it done
-
Measure It realm: These are the providers who help establish where you are starting at and how much progress ahs been made relative to the sustainability and business outcomes desired.
-
Learn It realm: These are the providers helping to ready people for action and get on the same page. Without awareness and understanding, it would be difficult to understand the solutions provided by the Do It, Measure It or Figure It realms and take action.
-
Tell It realm: These are the providers who help get the word out and attract the right people to the right providers through various ways of communicating, marketing and sales so that impact at scale can be achieved.

What feeds and ecosystem?
But an ECOSYSTEM cannot be expected to run on nothing. That's why despite being a non-profit, CBASS consistently talks about profits so that great solutions have the resources to keep scaling and reaching those who need them to solve the climate crisis.
